Aah holiday's end

Well, Thanksgiving weekend is done here. My fridge kinda looks like a war zone with all the leftovers jammed in there. Good times were had though. Hachi came over for the holiday and we stuffed ourselves silly with food, then drink, then monopoly with my Mother. Yea, kinda sounds lame, but the Monopoly board was the Special Edition Here and Now Monopoly with tons of pieces and the credit card swipe machine; which is awesome when you can't do math after a few drinks.

Friday was kinda scary. Went Black Friday shopping with Hachi, her brother, and his girlfriend. Way too many people in cramped spaces for my taste. Got most of my Xmas shopping done though. I do have to say that Best Buy sucks though. We went in there hoping to get some great deals using the "price matching" art of shopping where you carry around ads from other stores and use them to bargain with the clerks to get the lower prices like other stores have. It is a real neat way of shopping. Our group picked up a few games and a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. The games were priced at other stores for $10-15 as compared to Best Buy's $25-35 price; a good deal when matched, yea?

We all got to the checkout and attempted to price match. The clerk at the register was getting ready to match the prices, but apparently she was new because she stalled, looking at her screen. A supervisor of some sort (put in charge of getting the games from the storage for the customers) came by to get the games that we had chosen only to squirt a heavy load of funblock all over the smiling faces of our group. First the keyboard/mouse combo I picked up was coming up as the wrong price (the rack said $40 it rang up at $79) he was cool enough to go and look into the price mix only to come back and tell us that we made an error and that he "could not find where the keyboard in question was originally," nor could he "see how we could think the price was what we claimed it was." So no keyboard. He rubbed the funblock in deep when he informed us that Best Buy does not do price matching on Black Friday, just Black Friday. He also claimed that no other store does price matching on Black Friday either, which was crap (we had just come from Wal-mart where we got a kick ass deal with price matching). We told him about Wal-mart, but he stood his creamy shit ground. So no games, he just screwed his store our of at least $100 of profit. A spit in the bucket, maybe, but that $100 he cost, plus what it cost the company to pay him to be a douche bag.

Saturday and Sunday consisted of school work and work work. Nothing too fun, other than Hachi coming over to do her work and watch Gilmore Girls with me, eat major noms, play with our dog, mess around with WoW toons, and be amazed by the beginning of Mass Effect 2. Enough for now, I need sleep.

Final Thought: Cranberry wine is not a good follow-up for vanilla egg nog. High acid wine needs high acid foods.

Devil Scanner

I have been in the same chair all day at my school all day... For the what... past... 8 hours now, I have been pruning, rewriting, noting, tabbing, and now scanning my lessons for the unit I taught. Why scan you might ask? Why not just make corrections on the lesson files and turn that in? Because, that would be intelligent and this school is not known for doing smart things, only making smart people.

The only thing that has made today worth while is that Hachi has been texting me while I have been here. I am so sorry to her though.... I was suppose to pick her up from her teaching placement and instead her brother had to go so I could stay here and continue working. I love her for that though.... she decided to stand out in the cold waiting for her brother rather than interrupt my work. I have to think of something to get/do for her to thank her... It really seems uncaring if I do not.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.... if she isn't doing anything with her family, she can come over and we can enjoy some bad-assery. but I don't feel that is enough... I need something else... like... an early X-mas gift or something.

Final thought: Scanner-"BRRRRRERRRRRRRRRNRRRRRRRRRBRRRRRRRRRRRRR-derp"

Add: I just found out that Hachi has to go to work for the dumbest reasons ever... This is turning out to be a shitty evening.

Random

Yea, working on my unit plan and a song comes up on Pandora Radio; Bryan Adams (Everything I do) I do it for you. It made me feel all misty so I looked up the lyrics and sung along with it.

Sing with me!

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Oh, and the Jazz event was totally awesome. It was Latin Jazz, the conductor was great as was the rest of the band. I think the guy on the vibraphone enjoyed his part too much or he might have violence issues. He was totally assaulting the bars with a bloody vengeance.

So much to do and-LOOK! a bunny!

So here I am with Hachi and we are working on our final deals with methods teaching. Mostly it is editing our recordings. a painful process since the computer I am currently typing on is old as dirt and tends to freeze if you run more than one thing at a time. Yea, I am typing here on the Blogger, but hell, I am a procrastinator extraordinaire.

In other news gonna see a jazz recital tonight. Both Hachi and I need to see it for our Urban Schools Project. I like Jazz so it should be an interesting night.

Been looking at other games to play since my amount of free time is increasing with the winding down of school work. Thought of just going back to WoW. But then again, I've played that for 2 straight years. The new content may be neat and all and knowing me I will attempt to play, then spring will roll around and I will be too busy to even look at the shiny box.

Tonight was a good night

I actually enjoyed myself tonight. Shortly after my last post, Hachi and I went to meet Yuki at a roller rink. We engaged in great shenanigans. Not really. We all rolled around in an oval. "Rolled" heh, no. We all wobbled for a good twenty-five yards, then we made sad attempts at turning left before hitting anything solid (including people). Hachi fell on her butt in the rink, then again off the rink. Yuki and I made fun of Hachi for falling until we were getting ready to leave then as she was sitting to remove her roller blades, Yuki fell on her butt. So as it stands, I am the only one who was not a victim to gravity.

After the rolling we all made our way to Taco Bell and ate. During the eating we were reading and laughing at the new Verde and Roasted whatever sauces that were available. Hachi made made a comment about photoshopping the packets to change the text. I grabbed her a random packet of the HOT sauces that read "Marry me?" considering our past, my face burned a little as both Hachi and Yuki thought the irony was too much.

I began to think Puck was playing tricks when we drove by an Arby's not long after. The Arby's sign had most of its lights out with the exception of the hat shape, the letter "s" and the right half of the "y" making the sign look like it said J'S. Yes, I am pretty certain readers will see that as the possessive "J's" as if some person named "J" owned the franchise. I saw it as that at first until I realized that "J" and "S" are the first initials in Hachi's first name and my first name, respectively. So, Puck is probably giggling off the stage of life at us.

*Puck is a mystical figure from English lore as well as Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Student on Teacher Violence

I posted this as a status on my FB already but I think it should be reported here in more detail. One of my students in my methods placement punched me in the head. Some that read that sentence are most likely aghast that a student would hit someone that takes every possible moment to crack-wise at the expense of his students. No, this was merely an accident.

The student, I cannot recall his name (lie) so lets call him Caboose, was sitting adjacent to where I was seated. He was at his table, I was at the back desk. Periodically the student would stretch, apparently he is a very stiff person. Well after I had taken over the class for a quick review while my Cooperating teacher was making copies for the following class, I sat back at my seat next to Caboose. As if by clockwork Caboose began to make a big stretch. I turned to see his fist slowly proceeding to my forehead. I waited thinking to myself "he's gonna hit me, he's gonna hit me, heeeeeee's gonna hit me." *bop*

Caboose turned to see that I was the object that he hit with his fist. His face turned cherry red, his eyes widened, and he went down laughing - hard. the girls around him cackled and babbled through their laughing that Caboose hit a student teacher.

Near the end of class my Cooperating teacher made a comment to Caboose not to assault any more methods students. Many laughs were had at Caboose's expense.
